December 7th, 2018; Guillermo Guerra, Performance Analyst and Academy coach at Valencia CF, participated in a technical visit during October to GPS UK to help instill the Valencia CF methodology.
The trip, which lasted from October 21st to October 24th, saw Guerra land in London on Sunday afternoon where he had the chance to take in the Crystal Palace vs Everton fixture before making his way north to Bisham Abbey, the location where the GPS UK/FAB International Academy is housed.
Guerra, with the assistance of GPS Reading staff, lead three 90 minute sessions on Monday. He worked with specific age groups for each session beginning with U10-U11 then U12-U13 before finishing off with the U14-U15 age group.
Following the sessions, Guerra then made a visit to the Bracknell Town FC, a new UK academy partner, to meet with staff and educate them on the Valencia CF methodology.
Guerra’s visit coincided with a trial happening at the club and he lead a conditioned game with the players involved. Guerra led a possession based game/drill prior to kickoff in order to enlighten participating players on the individual technical behaviors that he will be looking for during the game.
The GPS UK 1st 11 Valencia CF ID Camp began on Tuesday, and lasted until Wednesday, at the New River Sports Centre where Guillermo split his time between leading sessions and evaluating players. He spent an hour with each age group at the ID event, open to U6 through U14 players, and held a Q&A session following lunch with the players.
GPS UK 1st 11 was founded in December 2017 as the result of a shared vision between GPS, Valencia CF and 1st 11 Academy. 1st 11 Academy was founded by Andrew Kuprewicz in 2012 with the mission of bridging the gap between Grassroots and Elite Club football. This three entity partnership looks to provide the best possible football education and to share Valencia CF’s famed methodologies with youngsters (U6-U16) in North London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
